Holding the plaque. of v1r-: Special C)lympics fun and games "Let me win, but if I cannot w~n let me be brave in my attempt" was the motto of the Special Olympics held at the Flagler College Gym on Saturday, Nov. 6. The fall games commenced with a parade of all the olympians out on the front grounds. After the parade, the invocation was led by Ernest Jones, College Recorder, then everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. The olympic torch was carried and finally the Special Olympics oath was recited. · 1 It was a cool, sunny day i~ St. Augustine, and spirit; were high among the olympians and volunteers alike. Along with the regular events were special performances by Spirit, Tim Williams and his alligators, the daggers and Mike Duffy as a Twinkie. After lunch the basketball game between the varsity team and the olympians was held along with dancing, cheerleading and singing. As always both the olympians and volunteers enjoyed the day. After the last minute hugs and goodbyes, the olympians gathered their ribbons and left with friends and family, looking fowared to the n~xt Special Olympics to be held in the Spring.
